Working in hospitals showed me time and again that for women who were well this environment interfered with their own natural physiological responses. Women were often exposed to a variety of interventions that they didn’t really need and weren’t supported to listen to their bodies.
After working in a small birthing unit for a few years I eventually came to Homebirth where birth as a normal life event is the reality. The making of families is precious and Homebirth supports this.
Being at home to birth means that families can plan to welcome their baby in the best possible way.
Being a Homebirth midwife is amazing, no two days are the same and every birth is unique. I am privileged to be able to be part of this intimate and truly amazing time in people’s lives.
I work with the most wonderful colleagues who I look on as family and this only adds to the joy of being a midwife.
